Hey Chris and Peonkun community! I’ve got some questions relating to the curation blog.

So, all reminders, besides the inbox, seem to be in the planner section?

Why isn’t the inbox a Smart Folder for reminders without tags? Though I have to say this causes some annoyances. when trying to add a reminder to anything other than the inbox, it disappears into the inbox. However, when you add a tag, it automatically returns to its original location in the planner section. Which is nice.

And on a similar front, why isn’t the planner just a Smart Folder for anything with a tag?

I also don’t understand the necessity of PARA all reminders have a tag. This leads me to think that every task isn’t supposed to be in the planner section. However, I do have some other smart folders in the PARA system, but they feel redundant because of the tags and search functionality.

P.S. Chris, thanks for all the articles and community building; it’s awesome. I found your context through a deep research from Claude, so it seems the AI SEO is good :) bit random, but I totally overhauled my second brain based on these articles. It was a fun process but with its challenges. If you are interested, I could forward the chat thread to you. You might see some interesting insights on a noob going through this brand for the first time.

Chris Plonski  - What sort of things do you keep under Resources in Reminders vs. Notes?

Currently I run a combination of Obsidian and Apple Reminders for everything related to Project, Areas and Tasks. Although I love Obsidian and won't stop using it, the iOS app with iCloud sync for me falls short in many areas like reliability, performance, quick capture, native integrations, etc., that's why I support it with Apple Reminders.

Recently I've been feeling that Apple Reminders is limiting me when it comes to handling my projects.

Some of the pain points for me are:

  1. Too many clicks and lack of a keyboard centric workflow.
  2. Non existent "concept" like PARA on the app design.
  3. Little space in the Notes area for each task.
  4. One new list per project? What happens when I finish? I don't want to delete it, and there is no built-in archive.

I'm tempted to try something like Things 3 to try and cover these pain points, but I'm also drawn back by:

  1. Lack of sharing. I need this heavily.
  2. If I continue to use Reminders for sharing, I would fragment my information even more across separate systems.

Some questions to kickstart the conversation:

  • Do you also feel Apple Reminders falls short for comprehensive Project Management?
  • Did you migrate to other app or stuck with Reminders?
  • How did you tackle these shortcomings?

I would like to read your experiences, thanks! 🤲🏼

I’m currently filming the Masterclass for Apple Reminders and want to make sure it’s exactly what you need. Which part would be most valuable for you?
